pray, pray, pray

So right now I am asking all of you prayer warriors to be double or triple time praying for this ministry! Things are tough right now we are short handed. So pray that God leads who He wants here in this ministry! And pray that all of here keep our sanity in the mean time!

RAIN....

The rain here has seem to be a bit of a hinderance the past week. For the past month we have been getting rain about every day in the afternoons and at night. Making it muddy and wet and just plain old yucky when the kids want to go outside.
Well for the past 3 or 4 days it has rained non-stop. Hard at times but for the most part just a steady rain. It has been rough on us b/c that means that there is no school and that the kiddos are inside. They get bored and about make me go crazy at times b/c these kids are not getting out their energy.
But I am not writing this email b/c of us so much but in times like this I think of those who are on the hillsides and their little house are being swept away by the rain and the mud slides. Just to think of those with a mud floor.........what a mess! So I am sending this blog out to ask all of you guys to be praying for us here on Honduras b/c I have heard that it is going to be 4 more days before the rain even lets up. As for me I am sort of clueless I don't have TV and don't get the paper to read so I am just taking the word from what I hear from others.
Thank you again to each and everyone of you who pray for us daily but right now I am asking for a special prayer for Honduras!

Lice Picking

Was just wondering how many of you have been lice picking before? I had never ever experienced anything like this until I became a momma to these little girlies!

I can not explain over the past month how much time I have invested to getting these little girlies hair clean. When we took our first set of girls in Oct 2006 they all had lice, well we could not seem to get rid of it in a weeks time we shaved their heads. Then when we took Pamela and Daniela in our home in May 2007 they had lice also. We did not want to cut their hair also so we tried to get rid of it. Well since then we have gotten rid of it several times, but in the mean time it has also came back several times too. This time we all had it BAD! From the boys to the girls to me and Naomi! For the boys we just cut their hair off but for us girls we used listerne. I know you are thinking that is for your mouth, well I am here to tell you it works for lice too. We soaked our hair in it for two hours and then covered out hair tightly with a bag. From there a lot of them where killed. So then it was on to getting these little dead eggs out of their heads.

In the midst of all of this I am at the point of praying dear Lord take these nasty little creatures from our home, I know it sounds silly but I was done!

Anyways after we got it all washed out we have been using white vinager, oil with the special lice combs to get all of the eggs out of their hair. This process did not work so well for us so instead every day I have been taking my fingernails thru their hair and pulling out the eggs. This is what I call the lice picking. It is just hours and hours of picking these little eggs out. They all are dead after the listerne but we want their little heads free of dead eggs and clean. I just finished little Daniela right now with the help of Elvia. She had it the worse of all of them. So I think they all are clean finally! So I hope that for now I am done with this ch. of lice picking!

The hard part for us is that we have no hot water to wash sheets. So cleaning the couches and beds have been hard. We used three bottles of lysol on the beds and couches and such. So I am hoping we killed any traces there. Also for those of you who have been here before know how a majority of these kiddos live here in Honduras. Filthy dirty and unbathed so that makes it hard for us to keep them from the kiddos when our kids go to the public school. So for now we are continuing to keep a close eye on them so it does not get out of hand. Also we are spraying their hair weekly with listerne just to keep a handle on it!

So just be praying these little critters do not come back to invade our home. After reading this I hope that your head is not itching. Just sitting here typing I keep scratching mine!

As you look at each and every one of these 16 faces please remember that each and everyone of these 16 faces needs you praying for them! So please take one face to heart and pray over them. Whether you know their name or not, God does.

Independance Day

This weekend was Independance Day! So all of the kiddos from school got all dressed up and got to march. It is like a parade but they call it a march. So on Saturday we had quite a chaotic morning getting all of the kids dressed and ready to march. In the mist of all of the chaos I did not get hardly any pics, but here are a few that I thought that I would share.
Monica .....................she was a flower for the parade. She luckily did not have to march she got to ride in the back of a truck with the some of the other kinders.

Pamela got to dress up as a teacher. Which meant she just got to wear a lot of make-up and look older! :) She loved it! But the poor girl was in tears almost when she got to me after the march. She and the other school agers had to march from the high school to here close to the house . So those of you who know that is almost the whole Santa Ana road. A long ways.....But anyways Pamela has a bad foot where she got ran over by a car a couple of years ago. So her foot was hurting pretty bad by the time she got to me.

Here is Cindy ready to march as a pompoero.......which is sort of like a cheerleader I guess.
As you can see she is a little anxious and not too sure what to expect, but after all was said and done she did just fine.

Hurricane Updated

We are high and dry! God is good. As one of the kiddos got up this morning he said well I prayed and prayed and prayed and look God took care of us. And sure enough he did!

We pretty much had a normal night of rain. We have by far had much worse rains. So we just have a few puddles outside but nothing to be complaining about.

So just wanted to let you know we are OK! Thank you for your prayers!

Hurricane

As most of you know Hurricane Felix is heading our way. It is easy in these moments to kick into panic mode. I am blogging to ask for your prayers. That God covers and protects us and keeps us safe. Right now of course I am worried about our well beings and the kiddos here, but I think of how blessed we really are. Those living around us don't have any kind of shelter compared to us. So my heart goes out to each and every family who is out there who is in danger.

But more importantly I am thinking of those who have a house on hillside that could possibly be swept away within the next 24 hours by mudslides. I think of those who are completely clueless right now and they have no radios and are out in the middle of no where. They do not even have the slightest clue what is coming upon them. I think of those out there with their mud floors, as the rain comes and sweeps thru their homes and their floor becomes a river. I think of those kiddos and adults out there on the streets who are homeless and have no where to run to for safety. They will be in the storm.....literally. I think of those kiddos out there who are in their homes and have no parents and no one to help them. The scenarios could go on........those are just a few to embed into your mind so you can cry out to God on their behalf.

I think of Central America and what is going to take place here in the next couple days. I pray that God covers and protects each and everyone of us. In this time may we hit our knees and cry out to God and may God use this time to change hearts and draw us closer to him.

Thank your for your prayers!

I will keep you posted. But do not panic if you do not hear from us. It could be we have lost elec. or our satellite signal for internet. Just keep praying!

My gal..Pamela

Pamela and Me
For some reason me and this little girl have a special bond. She seems to cling to me and want my motherly love and advice. I try my best. Her new thing is if you ask her how many kids I have she says only one.....HER. She is learning she has to share me. Pray for her as she acts out to get our attention at times. I pray that we continue to give her the love and support she needs and that she continues to heal from her past.

Thank You

I wanted to thank each and everyone of you who invested in our children or our home this summer. I know that a lot of people were in and out and I can not even begin to tell you who was here. But the kids sure know. Some of you have touched their hearts in special ways. Thanks for taking the time to laugh, play, and most importantly love on them! You have left marks on their heart.
Also thank you to each and everyone of you who committed hours or days here helping work, clean, or just take care of the kids.
Each and everyone of you made a difference.

Thanks for helping us one child at a time make a difference................

Here is our little Indians....

In July the kids celebrated the day of the Indians at school and they were to dress up to help celebrate for this day. At first I was thinking there was no way they could dress up and us find 11 Indian outfits for them. But as you can see we made it work with the help of a lot of people.Fernando, Cindy, Daniela, and Mario
Fitto, Brayan, Yovani, Pamela, Rudy, Marvin and Luvin was feeling a little left out and he had to work his way into the picture
