visitation part 2

The view on the way to their house.
All taking their turn at going down the slide
Ana and Reina teeter toter with Reina's mom
Katty trying to get her hands on the kitten, but it ran from and hid from her under the bed
She is such an animal lover, we just got rid of some skin stuff she had got supposedly from a dog. This kitten was so skinny and sickly looking, so I am glad she did not get her hands on the kitten.

Friday marked visitation day and as Dorian headed to town with some of them I headed to Sabana Grande with 6 of them for visitation. We were suppose to meet the parents in the town park but they did not show up. So we began to ask around if anyone had seen them. They said they must have gotten their days mixed up because they were there all day yesterday waiting on us. Seeing they have no phone we had no way to communicate with them to tell them we were there waiting on them. Marc is the one who usually takes them to visitation so I did not know where they lived. I called Marc and he began to explain to me where they lived and we began to drive and guess what we found the house. There mom was home and came running out of the house to greet the kids. She was thrilled. The dad was not there because he was out chopping wood but shortly arrived home to be with the kids.
They are a very very poor family but they love their kids. They have been living in this community for about a year now and they were living in a cardboard leaf combination house they said. Just in the past four months they have gotten themselves in a wooden structure. Right now both of them are out of work but looked for everything they had to scrape up and give the kids something to eat.
How blessed we truly are...............

Yesterday marked the last Friday of the month, which means it was time for visitation. Dorian headed to town with them to INHFA to see their moms. The kids build up so much excitement and anticipation. Luckily all of their moms were there waiting on them upon arrival. The kids sat, talked, ate, played, and had a good visit for about 2 hours.

update

The curfew was lifted this morning at 6am. Dorian and Rosy both had classes today and headed out the door this morning at 6am. They both got to class just fine and did not have any problems getting home either. The curfew this evening is back into effect from 7pm - 5am tomorrow morning.
The kids still do not have classes. They said for us to check Sunday evening and maybe they would have classes Monday morning.
Yesterday about 3:30pm our elec went out here at Casa due to some heavy rains and lighting struck a transformer. It is always an eventful evening with 15 kids and no elec. We all went to bed hoping in the morning we would have elec., to no avail no elec this morning. My cell phone had died during the night and had no battery! On top of all of that we had no water! Not a drop! We had dishes to wash. toliets to flush, and clothes to wash in the pila. So to work we went. We found a well and carried buckets and buckets of water til we filled the pila. This is the true honduran way. This is the way many live everyday. No elec, hauling water every day up and down a mountain. At least we did not have to walk up or down any mountain. I was reminded once again how blessed I really am and how good I do have it.
Things here in Santa Ana continue to be calm. Tomorrow Dorian and Rosy have classes tomorrow. The rest of the kids have visitation tomorrow afternoon.
Please continue to pray for this country!

Celebration with Banco del Pais

All of the kids with the people from Banco del Pais
A couple of weeks ago we received a call from a Bank here in Honduras saying that they wanted to come out and celebrate children's day here with the kids at Casa de Esperanza. In the 3 years I have been here this is the first time people from this country came out here to do this for the kids. Almost all of the giving we get is from the states. It was neat to get to see the kids interact with those from their own country and celebrate this special day with the kids.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Banco del Pais for doing this for our kiddos!

Rosy

Friday at Rosy's school they celebrated the typical Honduran day! They got to dress in typical Indian clothes and each child made a typical honduran food and and brought it in and each child had enough to share with everyone!

grades

Yesterday I had meetings with the teachers and got the kids grade cards. Well they all did so much better then the first period, this second period almost all of their grades raised! Only a few needing some more work. There was lots of red notes the first grading period but thank you Lord they are doing better. This school that they are at this year is much harder for them but it is for their better. It is good for them sometimes to be pushed to the limits!

They make me one proud momma!!!!
